This book is stuffed full of simple, authentic and delicious recipes. I love how you can make almost all the dishes with just mirin, sake and soy sauce. Almost all ingredients are easily available at your local Waitrose or Sainsbury's, or pop into an Asian/Chinese supermarket or online store. A surprisingly slim volume for 70 recipes, thanks to the simple but very clear instructions along with great photos. A refreshing change from the huge hardback tomes that one usually get from Jamie Oliver, Nigella Lawson, Gordon Ramsay or Rick Stein. I tried a number of the recipes and the results were thoroughly delicious and fantastic for someone missing Japanese food. Happy cooking days ahead!
Authentic Japanese Cooking Made Easy - Rated
I recieved this book as a birthday gift, and after a few weeks tried out a couple of the recipies for the first time.
The recipies were easy to follow, with pictures of some of the steps AND pictures of the finished dish for every dish (a major bonus). Almost all of the ingredients are easy to find in western supermarkets, and the ones which aren't can be found readily in your nearest asian supermarket or online.
The taste of the food from this book is very good quality; I've found out how to make one of my favourite dishes from a local japanese restaurant using this book (and it tasted exactly the same).
The only drawback is that it only has 70 recipies, and that isn't even really a drawback!
