Not what it says on the cover - Rated
This book states that the treatment is a cure for ME, CFS and fibromyalgia, which is an extraordinary claim. It may help some people have a more positive outlook, but it isn't a cure for these serious and debilitating illnesses and shouldn't be trumpeted as such. I'm sure the author means well but readers should be very cautious before embarking on this potentially expensive "treatment".
A book that changed my life - Rated
This book had such a big impact on me that I booked to train as a Mickel Therapy practioner rather than being treated myself with Mickel Therapy. I've now made a full recovery & am helping others overcome CFS, ME, FMA & other conditions.
This doesn't promise to cure you in one session though generally my experience is that people need 6-8 session, some fewer some more.
The book itself gives a good idea of the concepts around MT & ideal to ease people into sessions or just understand more about how it can help all of us.
Reverse Therapy does work - Rated
It has worked for me though I follow the course provided by Dr John Eaton.
Reverse therapy is NOT promised to cure someone in one session (though that is possible) and no therapist would say that. I think the comment below is misleading. It is often a very difficult technique and requires a lot of practise and trial and error. To say that you were told you weren't doing it right strikes me as being correct as it really does require you to be open-minded and able to accept things about yourself and your life that may be quite difficult. It does work but it is NOT an easy thing to do in many cases. The cure for M.E. was never going to be easy.
Not the cure - Rated
This is absolutely not the cure for ME. It is extremely expensive. Sufferers are encouraged to take the treatment with suggestions that it works in one session. After 7 sessions I was basically told it was not working because I was not doing it properly.
There is no statistical evidence backing it and my own anecdotal evidence of knowing 4 people having tried it and all failed is not promising.
I would categorise this alongside other so called alternative therapies which are tried by people in a lot of suffering desperate for a cure.
I would recommend calling the CFS help line on 0845 123 2390.
As a professional statistician i would gladly perform a trial of this "cure", some how I doubt the author will contact me.
Not a good book more an add on for treatments - Rated
As a book in its own right this fails. It does not give a good guide to how Mickel therapy works and fails to offer what the title suggests.
I like David Mickel but this book is only suitable as an add on for anyone going for treatments, readers will gain very little insight into how it works and will be unable to apply the treatment for themselves.
If you are intereasted in finding out about mickel therapy there are countless blogs on the internet which offer much more information than this book. If you are intereasted in simply reading this book in order to gain a way which you can manage your Me/ chronic fatigue it wil not help.
A very disppointing book and I hope Dr mickels next book is substanially better, which I am sure he is capable off. However from a consumer point of view this is not a good investment, its a small book with little to merit its selling price.
