Easy reading - Rated
This book is easy reading. Not quite a page turner but you still want to see where the characters end up. Enjoyable if some what unbelievable.
easy to read... but goes nowhere. - Rated
Easy to pick up and read (basically your usual chick-lit formula), but the book just sort of ends without wrapping anything up.
Not a very satisfying read. I'm pleased I didn't save it for a holiday or long journey, I'd have been dreadfully disappointed!
Hard to stick with - Rated
I realise a lot of the reviews here are highly positive and don't mean to put a dampener on this book, but I really found it difficult to enjoy.
I loved the larger than life concept - how far can you stretch the 'forsaking all others' vow when sharing your marrige with another wife? - and looked forward to a treat, but reluctantly found myself disappointed from the first few chapters.
Aside from some technical gripes like the author's annoying tendency to use far too many exclamation marks (there are more subtle ways to convey indignation or humour), I simply couldn't connect with any of the main characters; worse, I didn't like them. Ok, so the 'scorned' women go through intertwined emotional journeys rather than just up and leaving straight away as you might expect, but the overall result is far too long, not compelling enough, and predictable even in chick lit terms.
I'm glad that other readers have enjoyed this book greatly, so obviously I'm missing something here. Recommendation: try one of her other, shorter books first to see if you like O'Flanagan's style.
ENJOYABLE! - Rated
An enjoyable read, which was recommended to me. Couldn't put the book down. A well written book with great characters. Have read a few other of Sheila O'Flanagan's books, personally this was my favourite.
Easy Reading & Good fun - Rated
I have read quite alot of Sheila O'Flanagan books (Carolines Sister being my first and prob my favourite)
I enjoyed this book and read it quite quickly as once I got into I wanted to kmow what was going to happy. I like all of the charactors and found them intersting/different from one another. I thought the ending was a bit predictable - yet I wasnt disappointed.
One question I would ask is if you found out your husband was married to someone else as well, would you and the other woman really become such good friends?
I would recommend this to all of my friends, esp for a holiday/beach read.
