A heartbreaking true story, amazing courage. - Rated 5/5
This book is one of the most powerful gut wrenching books I have read in a long time. Many books have bought me to tears, but never as much as Destroyed did. The brutality Jayne went through, at the hands of the evil Graham I promise will shock all that read this book, its truly devastating . From start to finish it has you hooked and in tears. This book also manages to give you a smile, simply because her personality seems to shine through with each page. Her mechanism to survive is breath taking and will leave you overwhelmed. She is a selfless, lovely and caring woman who deserves a medal for what she has gone through and having survived it all, How she has managed to maintain a stable life for herself and her family is incredable. Your husband and children must feel so proud of you.
Jayne you have lived a lonely and isolated life most of your life, yet your little mind fought to survive against all odds. The suffering you endured as a child makes me angry, and made me cry many tears. I am amazed at your courage and your strengths. When you talked of Stuart you could feel the love between you was strong and unbreakable, he also had a terrible life, but he choose as you say a different path, you cannot blame yourself for that. The honesty regards Stuart and Vicky in this story is astonishing, and touching. Your story will stay with me for a long time Jayne. I hope and pray you have happy life and continue to write. I am sure your readers will want to see more from you. May god continue to bless you xxx

An extremely heart rending and moving story. - Rated 5/5
Well Jayne you have travelled a long, hard, and often very lonely road, but you never gave up did you ? Every time you got knocked down you picked yourself up and struggled on. I am absolutely amazed at your courage and strength. Reading about your childhood i kept thinking most kids would have caved in by now - and hardly surprising under the horrific circumstances - but your little mind kept on finding ways to deal with it. I cried for you and with you, and whoever the hell this graham is - i realise that will not be his real name - i would love to beat the cr@p out of him ! I was so relieved - and loved it - when your brother socked it to him !! Stuart didn`t always make the right decisions jayne, but he knew where his loyalty belonged. He was a very sad and disturbed young man, and unrequitted love can do very strange things to the mind.. I thought it was going to end badly for him, and i was dreading coming to that part, but your words, "I felt pleased that my brother`s personal torment had ended...i smiled..." - were so true and so moving. I cried a lot throughout this book, and i thought a lot as well, about how so many people suffer every day in different ways. Sometimes you can`t help wondering what it`s all about.....?
However, this passage where you talk about your family says everything about the loving, selfless and caring person you have grown to be, in spite of your horrendous childhood - "It was the sort of idyllic family moment that made everything else that had happened in my life seem unimportant..seeing joy on my children`s faces made me feel a million miles from the traumas of my early life....there was no abuse here, no violence and no arguments...like one of those perfect moments i had acted out with my dollies all those years ago.."
That is so lovely.
I wish you and your family all the best Jayne, and RIP Stuart, Vicky and Emma. x

Amazing courage through terrible pain! - Rated 5/5
Jayne, thank you so much for this honest account of your life and for surviving your terrible ordeal and journey. I have walked your path, felt your pain and understand your sorrow. I read your story with tear filled eyes and it broke my heart as your journey in parts echoed mine. I share the same name as your brother and share similar experiences. Alcohol and drugs destroy lives but as I know my self at times it seemed like a great comforter. In reality it stole everything from me and I became cold, hard and aggressive. The fear of not drinking and drugging was greater than the fear of living without and so I continued into oblivion until it nearly cost my life. Today I am drink and drug free and so is Stuart. He is proud of all that you are and so am I. Stuart Howarth - Author 'Please Daddy No'. Read this book and educate society, as adults we all have a duty to 'be the change we wish to see in the world' - God bless!

ruined youth - Rated 5/5
i knew jayne and stuart and the entire family. i am shocked by what i have read in jaynes book, but i have to say i am so proud of her for telling the world about the lives that were so cruely ruined, and hope that if this helps just one child going through this horror then the book is worth it. the book shows the failure in the state which allowed tragedy to happen on such a horrific level. the book reads very well and you can feel the pain in every page, and the love that shines through between children trying to survive in a cruel world.

its good to see a british normal council estate girl finding such courage and determination, to go through the hell of which most of us could not imagine, to come out the otherside and to give something out into the world, to turn it into a positive. i hope this book sells millions and every person takes a second look at the troubled child living next door and perhaps hold out a hand of comfort and support.

jayne you are an amazing person

love symond

Truth always hurts. - Rated 5/5
As a family friend I think someone has been hit by the truth. The authors sisters should be glad they have been made to look saints.I know the truth and I think nothing in this book is a lie every word has but as it happened.
This had nothing what so ever to do with money it's about letting the world know what kind of life some of us went through.
Keep your head up Mrs.Sterne don't be put down by any losers.
I recommend this book to everyone it's really heart touching.
