A Thrilling Thriller - Rated
RITA-award winning, USA Today best-selling author Karen Rose earned her degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Maryland. Her debut suspense novel, DON'T TELL, was released in July, 2003. Since then, she has released six more novels. Karen's writing style is punchy and to the point, which makes for good reading throughout her books. There are no boring pages, never mind boring chapters. Nothing that is irrelevant is put there to 'bulk' it out
This novel revolves around the lives of a Public Prosecutor who is on a mission to rid the world of all its criminal elements. A Homicide detective who has lost everything in the world that matters to him. Finally a killer whose own brand of justice, vigilante style, threatens to light the blue touch paper to that powder keg that is just waiting for one little spark to set it off . . .
This is good honest suspense writing without any of the baggage of long lost secrets, stolen art treasures or middle aged knights coming back to life to set the world to rights. It is like a breath of fresh air.
A great Read - Rated
This is one of the first books of Karen Rose that I read and it made me go out and buy her others. This is an excellent read.
Kristen Matthews is a top prosecutor and Abe Reagan a detective. They come together to investigate a serial killer who is targeting criminals who have escaped justice and who is then sending letters to Kristen with each victim. These letters however cause problems as the friends of each victim then turn their attention to Kristen believing her to know the identity of the killer. They have to catch him before he kills again and before Kristen is killed by these friends out of revenge.
I really enjoyed this book. The characters were well developed who had each faced tradgedy in their lives which still left scars that each were trying to deal with. It was a fast paced and emotional read and I would recommend this to anyone.
Five stars because this is the first title of the author - Rated
Well, I am happy that this new author caught my attention. In general all books of this genre are quite similar to each other and unfortunately few authors are succesful. To support the first work of the author, I gave it a five star. I hope that she won't repeat herself in upcoming works. You will find one of the worst villians ever as ex(?)husband of the heroin. Caroline and her son Tom had been abused several years and finally found the chance to escape from police husband/father and subsequently survived. Just after the meeting of hero and heroin, villain husband finds out they are still alive. He is quite obsessive for his son Tom, and starts actually hunting. The plot was fast and great, I could not put it down. I believe that Karen Rose has the ability to be best seller as Sandra Brown and Tami Hoag. I am looking forward to reading her new releases.
Great book-have asked author to write faster - Rated
I've just discovered Karen Rose; I have just finished reading this one(her latest)- she is very very good- if you like suspense with feisty heroines;alpha males( do we need any other kind?)-intelligent writing & gripping plots;then she's the one for you. Kristen Mayhew is a dedicated prosecutor who is very good at her job.Through no fault of her own she has lost a few cases as well. Then someone "helps " her by executing those scummy offenders who got away-she gets caught in between the vigilante & the police & some other very nasty characters. As expected in a romance novel, there is a gorgeous alpha male -the attraction is mutual;the writing here is very clever-you can feel the sparks-but Kristen's character fights it-and the author does an excellent job of drawing the reader in & making then understand Kristen's reasons-but it does not detract from the story in anyway-The hero also has his own burdens ,but none of this ever weighs down the story. and of course; the unmasking of the villain is nailbiting. There is a happy ending of course, and even here;Rose makes you share the characters' feelings that even this is an unexpected miracle for them- In all, a very good start- I even emailed her this morning to ask her to write faster-she's definately one whose work I shall be adding to my bookshelves as soon as they are published.
