Great for beginners - Rated
This is a terrific book for beginners, Debbie goes through all the basics in a easy and inspiring way. Some books presume that you already know which way to insert the hook, or pull through etc. Debbie takes you through all that like it's a piece of cake! I absolutley loved the book and still use it as a reference guide. Viva le DIY!

So many mistakes! I've been crocheting for many years and could probably figure out the errors on my own, but for those just learning I can see how they would be very confused and discouraged. Most of the designs don't appeal to me or anyone that I know regardless of their ages. I have made an afghan from the skull potholder design charts and I've made the Jolly Roger sweater (another skull design) for my daughter. Nothing else appeals to me. If I'd had a look at this book in the shops instead of buying it sight unseen online, I'd have put it back on the shelf.

I have tried on numerous times to follow so-called 'easy to follow' beginners crochet books/magazines always to no avail. I have usually been stymied by awkward wording and rubbish diagrams. So frustrated had I become that I had long ago resigned myself to the fact that I would never learn to crochet. Well, that was until about three weeks ago, when I purchased 'The Happy Hooker'. The style of writing is conversational and straightforward, and I am now a crochet addict!! Crocheting is so much easier than I ever thought, and this book is the best starting point if you want to learn the craft.

amazingly easy to understand the patterns, plently of patterns to choose from, I especially like the bunny slippers and the flower scarf!

This book is wonderful for anyone wanting to explore crochet. The instructions are great for learners and the photos and diagrams provide extra help when needed. There are loads of different designs and the patterns are fun & varied. This book was the start of my passion for crochet, and it will keep you going for ages. The target audience is teens-20's so there may not be much interest for older crocheters looking to make garments for themselves. The designs are fun & funky and may not appeal to people wanting classic style clothing.
