Diluted Distorted and too generalized - Rated 2/5
In my opinion this book is a bit reductionist- It tries to boil NLP down to lots of techniques and buzzwords but sometimes misses the big picture.

I was confused in some places and occasionally could not understand what point the authors were trying to make.

My biggest problem is the lack of credit for the creators of NLP Dr Richard Bandler and John Grinder. By this I mean they have not mentioned either of these people in the acknowledgments, nor have they mentioned the Society of NLP in the resource list, which should (in my opinion) be the first point of contact for people to ensure they are getting as close as possible to the original product.

At a minimum I think this is a bit rude or perhaps naive, which is fine if its "just another NLP book" but this book is supposed to be THE first base, definitive book for the budding NLP enthusiast.

NLP has become like chinese whispers over the years as it keeps getting diluted by self appointed expurts (some of which) have ripped people off and misused the NLP principles. (please note I am not referring to the authors in any way)

I suggest anybody interested in NLP reads Frogs to Princes for a start or any book by Richard Bandler the latest one "conversations" is Brilliant, extremly easy to read and will really help you to look at your life in a more user friendly fashion.

If this was a standalone book about NLP, I think its not too bad but if its supposed to be the "Bible" I'm sorry it doesn't do what it says on the tin.

Excellent introduction to NLP - Rated 5/5
I was completely new to NLP when I started reading this book. This is one of the few books which I really relished reading from cover to cover, not just once but twice! It explains in a clear and concise manner the principles and applications of NLP,the knowledge of which has been a life changing experience for me and has totally transformed my way of thinking.

After having bought several books on NLP which failed to keep my attention for long because of their rather insipid presentation,I stumbled upon this book and fell in love with it! I would highly recommend this to anyone who intends to obtain an understanding of the principles of NLP and put it to use.

I am eagerly awaiting the release of the "NLP Workbook for Dummies" by the same authors.Well done Romilla Ready and Kate Burton !!

Solid introduction to NLP - Rated 5/5
Clear minded, competent and enjoyable introduction to NLP. The basics are advanced in a simple, well-rounded manner and there are plenty of activities to challenge and refine your thinking and behaviour. Possibly it's greatest achievement is that the later ideas and activities (which are often called 'more advanced' in other books) flow beautifully and logically on in an engaging and stylish manner. As with 'CBT for Dummies' (which acts as an almost complementary companion) it's a book I often recommend to clients in the appropriate circumstances. Well worth purchasing.

Great for those new to NLP - Rated 5/5
I have always had an interest in NLP, but have only recently started to study it more seriously. This book, like all the "Dummies" books is clear and easy to follow. It takes you through NLP in easy stages, and can be used to dip in and out of. It explains key terms in a simple manner, and I thought this to be a particular plus point. Very often, textbooks on subjects like this, can be way above the heads of the average user, however, NLP for dummies has avoided this. The book contains anecdotes which are not only interesting, but support and enhance the text. I work in Education, teaching the future teachers and will be using many of the techniques within my classes. I will also be recommending this book to my students.

Great intro for non-dummies - Rated 4/5
At over 300 pages this is a detailed reference on the tools and concepts of NLP and yet the authors have managed to present their slippery subject in the clear and straightforward language needed by learners. I found the Dummies approach friendly and accessible, written by enthusiasts who have a real affection for their subject but who don't see it as the single answer to life, the universe and everything. For the lay reader this is a great reference book on what can be a very broad and confusing subject. I'd recommend it to anyone who wants to make a solid start with NLP.
