New Avengers:Civil War - Rated
I dont like Brian Michael Bendis on New Avengers but this is...ok. Its easier to go through this issue by issue-
Captain America-First off the art is dreadful and actually ruins this fairly decent issue. There is a fair bit of action in this and its interesting to see Cap starting to recruit for his anti registration side. Sadly we dont get enough of this and would have been good to see him meet up with say Cloak and Dagger or Cable.
Luke Cage-This is perhas the best of all these issues and is really quite interesting to see Cage's response to the SHRA and his action with both his wife and child and the fight with the cape killers at the end. The art also seems to suit this issue but all of this is sadly ruined by an incredibly chessy ending.
Spider-Woman-Art in this issue is superb and has a real movie and lifelike feel to it. The story brings a conclusion to the Spider-Woman arc Bendis had going but it has little to do with the Civil War and feel s unsatisfying.
Sentry-ugh. terrible. The artis dreadful and again the story is weak at best and reveals little of the mysteries around the sentry or civil war. It even contradicts the Sentrys story in "The Return" and actually left me even more confused over this crummy character.
Iron Man- Art is awesome...story aint great. The actual Iron Man sries did not delve much into his thoughts and feelings of Tony Stark regarding the Civil War and this is basically Tony dealing with a pissed employee and trying to make Director Hill of S.h.i.e.l.D likeable contradicting everything before this issue took place.
Overall disappointing but one of the better Civil War tieins. Just wished it couldve gone more into civil war itself...
