Excellent research, based on fact and courageous - Rated
I think this book should not be rated on what people think of Dr. Spencer and/or his views on Islam. It should be based purely on the essential argument highlighted in this book and key aspects of Islam history.
I have read most the Qur'nic verses and Hadiths in Arabic [originally written] referenced in this book, therefore I view the book to an honest, and accurate record of Muhammad's life and his career as prophet. All the materials are based sources widely [if not fully] endorsed and recognised in the Islamic word as the source of truth about Muhammad.
I genuinely recommend the book, it is necessary that people understand the thinking and motives of Jihadist around the world, and most importantly what are the core issues preventing Islam to be a spiritual-religion rather than [as it is now] a political ideology requires to remain in conflict to exists.
Obviously biased, but well argued - Rated
Slightly sensationalist, but it will seem difficult to argue with the general premise that Islam's ethos is one marked by violence and aggression to those 'outside' their own group. Feel free to disagree, but early MUSLIM historians (I am thinking of Ibn Ishaq) report this, often with a noticeable sense of pride.
With all the new-agey transformations that both Islam and Christianity have gone through, trying to white-wash them as consumer-friendly ways of finding happiness, early Islam is not about peace. In fact, where is the 'revelation' in what is but a man's pragmatical ordering of society? I find Christianity at least stimulating in that Jesus had something interesting to say beyond dietary and conjugal law.
One of the worst books you can buy - Rated
It is people like this who are intolerant of others and who cause intolerance in the world and disturb the peace. The book should be called The Truth about Robert Spencer: The World's Most Intolerant Person.
The book should be banned and all religions should learn to live peacfully side by side, and we should all stand firm in crushing attempts like this or any others that only encourage hatred and discrimination towards others.
