I spent a small fortune on the most popular guitar books on shelves and on the web trying teach myself guitar during the last 5 years. All teach the same thing and you only learn a very little from each book. One day I happened to buy by Fred Sokolow's Fretboard Road map Book for Guitar. I read the entire book in a day and highlighed the impotant points. I practiced everything during next three weeks. Within the next Week I could play scales and chords anywhere on the fretboard like a pro creating diffrent tones using chord fragments and scales at diffrent places on the fretboard. This unlocked the mystery of fretboard forever. If you want to master the entire fretboard then this book is for you. Buy this, use it, play it, practice it soon you will be in your next level of your guitar playing with confidence. Now sometimes when I see this book on my shelf I think to myself where was this man Called Fred Sokolow all these time... Caly from Harrow London

A great book for guitarists of whatever ability. Full of essential info ( chords , progressions, intervals etc) and simply presented so you get straight into it. don't hesitate - buy this book - well done Fred!
A hard task master. - Rated
I've no doubt this is a great book if you are disciplined enough to buckle down and do all the exercises the great Fred recommends, but if you're lazy like me and just want to dip in to improve your knowledge every now and then, then this isn't the most thrilling book in the world.
Try Guitar on Tap for much the same thing, but in an easier to digest form for instance. Fred is no doubt a guru of his craft, but it aint that compelling a read and not a great choice for a novice.
Sorry about the two stars, but everyone else gave it a four, so give another point of view....

Good product, did what it set out to do in the blurb. Shame the cover is a bit naff thats all.
Well organised book - Rated
I thought this book was extremely intuitive and with an easy writing style.
I liked the many diagrams which makes understanding the chord patterns easier.
However, being left handed, I also found the book very hard going, where I have to transpose over every tab notation and chord diagram.
I would not recommend this book for left handed players, although I would happily buy it again if Fred Sokolow would write and publish a left handed version of this book.
