Basically, saying that the Church argument isn't good enough - Rated
Fr Moore (OP) found the Church teaching on homosexuality, well, not really very good. Dismissing Genesis (only of interest in a Judaen sense) he puts sexual practice firmly in its modern contect. For example, the Sodom situation wasn't homosexuality as we know it - the Sodomites didn't knock politely on Lot's door and ask if the "men" (actually angels,and therefore of no determinate sex) woud like to visit a gay bar/go for a walk on the heath etc. The description of the situation makes this plain. Fr Moore was a better linguist and philospher than most of us, so we should read his discussions of St Paul's arguments with interest and -well, awe. If you've lived with the -seriously unedifying - "debate" over Canon Geoffrey John as a candidate for the Bishop of Reading (as we residents of Reading did), please read this book. It's excellent, and everything that the Church says is challenged.Fr Moore doesn't say that his arguments are better- he just says that the Church's arguments are lacking. Good scholarship and serious food for thought here.

PS For heterosexual stuff, read "The Body in Context". All his work is very good for anyone having problems with, well, all those "squishy" bits of life that we can't really get away from...
