On why you should participate in 'The divine nature' - Rated
These two short passages in the Bible, namely 2 Peter and Jude, complement each other beautifully. Their purpose is both to encourage and to exhort the reader to become a 'participator in the divine nature'. Participation has a very modern ring about it, with it overtones of team work and collaboration.

However some of the Greek and word-by-word analysis does become heavy going. There is the sense we are not seeing the wood for the trees, not seeing the big picture of salvation because of the many theological and etymological asides.

But the study does seem to get hold of the readers mind and spirit with its "logic on fire" and is extremely uplifting. The similarity of one passage in 2 Peter with Jude is intriguing. The 'make every effort to add to your faith ...' section in 2 Peter1:5-9 is quite brilliant. The sweep of time from the past and God's promises, through to the present to discerning false teachers, and then on to the future with Christ's second coming - all these are quite breathtaking. Participating in the divine nature is both heart warming, challenging and breathtaking with the backdrop 2 Peter provides.

A group of us, around 12, studied the text of 2 Peter with the aid of this book in the The Bible Speaks Today series and, indeed, found the series title to be true - it did speak today - and it was very uplifting indeed.
