An Excellent Commentary on Revelation - Rated
This commentary is well worth having on any preacher's bookshelf. The author shows a vast knowledge of Jewish apocalyptic literature, as well as the Old Testament background that is so central,l and brings this to bear in expounding Revelation. An illuminating introduction covers foundational issues such as the use of the OT, understanding symbolism and the various structural outlines that have been proposed. In the main body of the commentary, a vast secondary literature is cited, and those he disagrees with are treated fairly. If you want a reliable reference and thought-provoking commentary, then this is well worth owning.
