Such a variety of different minds with their thoughts on how to cope and such wisdom. thank you to the author! The wide variety of authors of many beliefs pleased me and I found lots of surprises. I didn't expect a profound metaphysical poet to be charming and funny (George Herbert "Thanksgiving for my house"), or to laugh at Bertrand Russell's positive view of boredom. It is a book to keep to hand for refreshment at any moment. Comforting and inspiring - Rated Although I am familiar with many of the quotations in this anthology, there are many, many more that are new to me. It is a wonderful book to have to hand, to dip in and out of for inspiritation, comfort and reflection. It may be a Catholic anthology with many quotations from the bible and the writings of the saints, but it is also packed with excerpts from poets and philosophers, communists, scientists, journalists and writers as well.

Comforting and inspiring - Rated 5/5
Although I am familiar with many of the quotations in this anthology, there are many, many more that are new to me.

It is a wonderful book to have to hand, to dip in and out of for inspiritation, comfort and reflection. It may be a Catholic anthology with many quotations from the bible and the writings of the saints, but it is also packed with excerpts from poets and philosophers, communists, scientists, journalists and writers as well.
