In this masterly work Father Bede gives profound insight into the Bhagavad Gita from a Christian perspective. He brings light to bear on the verses of the Gita in a way that no other Western commentator has done in the past. In this work it is shown not only how the Gita is of immense importance to Hindus but that is also essential reading for Christians. Father Bede does not shy away from sensitive issues such as reincarnation, or life after death, but deals with each point in a way which establishes clear areas of agreement and universality in both religious traditions. His discussion of seemingly obscure verses is portrayed with such insight as to make them clearly understood and appreciated. Father Bede draws on his immense wealth of personal knowledge and understanding of both Christian and Eastern spiritual traditions in a totally readable way. This book if taken seriously has the power to revive religious attitudes.
