I believe in miracles... - Rated 5/5
This book is amazing. I've only just begun reading it and I already feel nourished to my spiritual core. It's not that I didn't believe in miracles before I began reading this book, I did, I am a devout Catholic. Nonetheless, to some extent miracles are abstract notions that come with the package. You assent to their possibility because you assent to the truth claims of the Christian faith. Somehow, even when you hear about new canonisations occuring in Rome such things seem so far from the reality of daily life that one never absorbs their significance. Indeed, at times miracles seem best suited to an age of black and white pictures... However, having read the stories of still living (many of them luckily so, since they were certain to perish save for a miracle) ordinary individuals I feel more like the miraculous is a thing of the here and now. These people are not a dead letter but speak their own voices and provide living breathing proof that the spirit of God is still roaming among us. In my humble opinion this book is essential reading not merely for Catholic Christians but also for seekers and skeptics, agnostics and athiests. It is the sort of text that cannot fail to have some sort of impact upon your life no matter what your personal beliefs are.
