Random dribbles or..? - Rated 3/5
Anton LaVey totally let's go of any self criticism and offers sixty highly personal ramblings about things and stuff that bugs him with the "ordinary people's" world. Having said that, and being a big fan of LaVey and what he stands for, I nonetheless recommend this book to all and everybody. Many of the essays have wit and every one has attitude. But this is probably not the best introduction to LaVey or modern satanism.

FOR THOSE WHO KNOW LITTLE OF SATANISM - Rated 5/5
This is one of the best books from the last century, written by a misunderstood man who was the soul of Satanism.Forget your red guy with horns that many bible bashing Xtians wil have you scared of, this is a religion that cared about mankind and was a follower of peace. If you dont understand what its all about then buy this book, read it, open your mind and set your soul free.

Eh [shrug] O.K. - Rated 3/5
While I loved LaVey's past works, this book didn't appeal to me nearly as much. Don't get me wrong- I found some of the essays to be really thought-provoking with great points. And there was a good dose of humor too. But then the other half of the essays had me going "Huh? What the hell is he talking about?" or "You know, I have my occasional disagreements with this guy, but in this essay I really, REALLY can't agree with him at all." I found "The Devil's Notebook" to be a MUCH more insightful collection of essays.

Oh well. It's kind of like those released rarities and B-sides from favorite bands: some of them you hear and realize WHY the band didn't want to release them, and some of them are gems. But then most fans of the band are glad we at least _have_ the option of hearing them, and that the only recordings are not just rotting in a vault somewhere.

So if you're a completist when it comes to your favorite authors, and/or you want to read a lot about LaVey's pet peeves and fetishes, I say definitely buy it. If otherwise, you might not find it _too_ enjoyable. (But judging from these past reviews, it seems like there are lots who _do_ like the whole style of it. I still personally rate it, in comparison to his other works, as "so-so")

Dark humor at it's best - Rated 5/5
This is a great book by Dr.LaVey.It's filled with misanthropic humor and wit.He speaks on a number of topics:pantypissing to orgasmic sneezing, stereo to not bathing. He speaks the truth on thestate of the world today and how it used to be and how it could be.What mayseem like pointless ranting is just himrememberng how things used to be.The foreward by Marilyn Manson is great.Anton LaVey is one of the best writersof this century.Even though he is gonehis words and accomplishments won't beforgotten.HAIL SATAN!

Waste of Paper. - Rated 1/5
This book is a disgrace to the legacy of LaVey. From reading it you can easily tell it was hastily put together. It holds no new information except what LaVey's divulges about his personality. The Satanic Bible and to a lesser extent The Devil's Notebook are the only books of value by LaVey. Its major flaw is it discusses obscure topics that would interest no one (except maybe LaVey).
