Ok, but not for all ages as it claims - Rated
This book includes some interesting designs that produce lovely jewellery.
However, buy this book with a warning - The designs are often difficult to follow and I found that they needed some moderation. I am not a beginner in making jewellery and so I was able to get around this, but i feel that less-advanced beaders would find the concepts hard to grasp.
That said, this is a good book to have in your collection and for under £5, it's a pretty good buy.
Great designs, definitely worth the money!!! - Rated
This is a perfect book for lots of different patterns with seed beads. Some ethnic patters (like the Zulu belt of the Guaymi Collar) may be slightly over the top, but then patterns like the Princess Necklace are simply beautiful.
The book looks not very glamorous - but each project has a colour picture and the patterns are clear - although you need a little beading experience to read them.
The only thing I miss is that it does not give you any idea on how many beeds you need - so I've run out of beeds for some projects! Just a guidance on how many beeds/ crystals would have made this a super 5 star book.
It is the book that I use most of the 5 seed beed books I have - buy it, it will give you lots of joy; I just ordered Harte's other book. Hope that will be good too!
Rather disappointing - Rated
I've just received this and I wasn't inspired. It does give clear instructions on the patterns but I think the designs are rather old-fashioned. It is probably good for improving technique but not if you like beadwork because you enjoying making and wearing the finished item. It is about the length of a magazine but there are some very good magazines now on the market which costs less and has more contemporary styles and introduces other materials for beading e.g. wirework and crochet. In short, disappointing and I wouldn't have bought it had I seen it in a bookshop.
a small classic - Rated
At first sight a rather old-fashioned little book, but it has excellent advice and I thoroughly agree with another reviewer that it is good value for the price.
The illustrations are so clear that after making a couple of simple pieces a total beginner could easily move on to the more complex pieces and there are some great ideas for anyone who already loves working with seed beads and needs a few ideas.
a must have book for readers of any level - Rated
not the prettiest book but once you get past that and discover that each project is very well explaned and lots of different ideas, i have made lots of things and have been very impressed with the results.
