crackhead 1 - Rated 5/5
I read this book in two days.........I couldn't put it down! Although I never knew her our lives were some what similar...up to a point.
I went to school with "Jamie" and drank at the same pubs as her.
I lived in Stratford and then moved to Coventry to the same area.
I had a baby also, I experimented with dope as most kids do BUT I was lucky enough NOT to get involved in hard drugs. Today I am a married mother of 3 and doing brilliantly. My daughter is now living in the same area of Coventry as a student and I do worry about her...even more now I've read crackhead, but all I can do is warn her & let her read the book, which she is doing at the moment, as a true life warning that drugs creep up on you and disintergrate your life. I can only praise the courage that Angela has shown in this book and hope that Jamie is getting things together for her families sake if not for her own.
Thanks Angela for the most eye opening book I have ever read!
JUST COMING BACK TO AMAZON TO ORDER CRACKHEAD 2 & 3

Crackhead - read it ! - Rated 5/5
I could not put this book down and found myself reading it rather than sleeping. This book should be used to enlighten all agencies and persons involved in this chain. I found it a very worthwhile read and it has enlightened me. It is a true raw and very gritty account of an addicts life and the impact that has on the family and the role the agencies involved play. I was greatful to read it and it has certainly changed my view on many issues. I look forward to reading Crackhead 2 and 3.
Thank you

Continuation of the ongoing problems due to drugs - Rated 5/5
Having read Crackhead and Crackhead2, I was eager to get hold of a copy ofCrackhead3. It didn't let me down; I couldn't put the book down! I read itin 2 days! Gripping diary written by the mother of a drug addict andprostitute, focusing in Crackhead3, of the terrible effects the drugaddiction has had and is still having, on the addicts three children, theeldest of which lives with the author, his grandmother.
Such a sad read, written by such a strong and focused individual.
If you have read Crackhead and Crackhead2, this is a must, but if youhaven't read the first two, and you just want to know how children ofaddicts are affected, go out and buy this book. The first two books aresummarised so you'll have the background information you need beforereading it.
Eagerly awaiting Crackhead4, which I understand is being written now.
Anyone experiencing drug addiction within their family should read thesebooks, especially if children are affected.

A gripping read - Rated 5/5
Having read about the author of this book, Angela Harrison, in my local newspaper, I decided it sounded like an excellent read, having been through a very similar situation myself. As the author and the subject of her book (her daughter, Jamie) live locally, and a lot of the book is based in my hometown, I gave it a go.

This is a must for anyone having to deal with the escalating drug problem of today, especially if it is someone very close, like a family member. So much of what Angela Harrison says in this book, I can relate to, and can sympathise with.

Yes this is a depressing read, but its also real life. Like the author says, it can happen to anyone, and that is so very true. Never ever did I think my family would come anywhere near being involved in drugs, let alone heroin, but its happened to me and my family, with my brother turning to heroin to wipe out his problems.

With mine and my familys help and support, he is getting his life back again, but this book allowed me to see that it can happen to anyone, and will continue to happen to anyone, and a problem so large, cannot be ignored.

A gripping book, which I just couldn't put down! I am now onto Crackhead2, and will also purchase Crackhead3. Of course, I'll be hoping for a wonderful, happy ending, but whatever the outcome, this mother has done everything possible for her daughter and grandchildren.

A book to be read by any individual dealing with the problem of heroin and crack addiction, particularly if that addict happens to be a family member.

An educational but depressing read - Rated 4/5
This is a deeply disturbing book, written by a, dedicated and loving mother, of a girl who's life is destroyed by drugs. Set in middle class England the format is that of a diary, catalogeuing the decline of this intelligent and pretty girl, a decline into hard drugs, prositiution and crime. It is also the story of this very strong mother, who has to stand by and clean up the debris of the girls life, including three children by three different men, visiting prisons, contacting and befriending addicts and criminals and fighting, in vain, with the social services, drug agencies and adoption agencies, who constantly support the dangerous and criminal lifestyle of this girl. It is a disturbing book but I suspect it would be a lifeline to any other parent or family member who is dealing with a similar dreadful situation
