Fantastic Food - Rated 5/5
Wow! What can I say. This book has to have some of the most inspirational vegetarian recipes I have ever seen. I've just had great reactions at a dinner party to the Oyster Mushrooms in Ginger Butter that I cooked from a recipe in this book, and I have to agree with them. The recipes are not necessarily the quickest to prepare, but if they all taste as good as the mushrooms, then the extra time taken to put them together will be worth it. Since buying this book, my plans for this year now include a trip to Cork to sample the delights of this restaurant.

Tips from the world's finest restaurant! - Rated 5/5
I must confess - when I was first taken to Cork's Paradiso Restaurant, I arrived outside and noted to my horror that it was a vegetarian joint... Although I have enjoyed the odd veggie restaurant in the past I don't think I have ever taken a vegetarian option from a menu where meat was available... Only a few minutes later, I was gazing at the menu, poring over the amazing sounding dishes on offer, all made with local and seasonal produce, and waiting with great anticipation for the meal to arrive! I had the best meal I had ever had in a restaurant, and in fact for the first time felt like eating out could be a great pleasure. I eagerly bought this book, and while I nowhere near possess the skill of Cotter, have managed to concoct enough good meals to impress other meat-eating skeptics!

veggie goodness - Rated 5/5
I've eaten in the Cafe Paradiso a few times now, and never have I been disappointed there. It's a vegetarian restaurant in name, but it transcends that genre, and is truly a gourmet foodie haven. The cookbook, written by the owner Dennis Cotter continues firmly in the tradition created by the restauant itself. The book starts with larder essentials, such as oils, breads, basic roasted veg etc. The very first recipe is for bread, and I dare you not to try it.

Sitting here right now, some recipes spring immediately to mind, such as the carrot, almond and feta terrine, or pasta with lemon. Little descriptions from the author accomapany each recipe and cause mouth-watering juices to flow.
This is not a vegetarian cookbook, this is a classic.

you don't need to be a veggie.. - Rated 5/5
to find this book amazing - I love cooking, eat meat, but enjoy cooking fab food of any style and this book is just the best. Not as elaborate as Raymond, not as smug as Nigella, with more bite than Nigel. I used this book when planning a menu for veggie friends at Christmas and just loved the book, the recipes and the food. Oyster mushroom and Gubeen Ravioli is highly recommended.

the most impressive cookbook published in years - Rated 5/5
as the only specialist cookery bookshop in london, we are always looking out for new classics. cafe paradiso is one. beautifully put together, well written and containing the most fabulous recipes. this is NOT a vegetarian cookbook, it is a book where the recipes are so good they dont NEED meat. An absolute godsend to vegetarians, it's inspiring, transforming and encouraging. we have tested over three quarters of the recipes in the book in out test kitchen and they all work brilliantly. i have also eaten there and it was a wondeful experience. if you have room for only one cookbook, get this one!
