Good read - even for non sailors - Rated This is a truly inspirational book. Helen Tew has told a great story, in which her, her husband and not least 'Mary Helen', a 26ft wooden sailing boat are the heroes. I'm not a sailor, but the descriptions of languid cruises in a bygone time made me wish I was. The Trasnatlantic crossing itself is related in a self deprecating way that belies what most of us would find a physically and emotionaly taxing voyage; let alone doing it aged 89. The narrative weaves about in time and does leave a few questions to which I could only guess the answers. Compare Helen Tew with Ellen McArthur's pessimisstic tales and Pete Goss's self approval - both good books - and you will see a story of a great woman, a great sailor and a great spirit.
