Customer Reviews

Enjoyable! - Rated 4/5
Very enjoyable book!

The author is clearly a fan and cares for the intricate details of the characters every bit as much as we (the fans) do. it was a good story with a nice pace and some enjoyable touches.

However, one problem I did have was with her need to explain how peoples on different worlds understand eachother. The dialogue between Carter and Daniel was very hackneyed at this point and I began to fear that this would continue... but fortunately this clunky moment was an isolated incident and the rest of the book flowed beautifully!

I would definitely recommend as I couldnt put this down!

A Rose Among the Weeds - Rated 5/5
Would that all of the publisher's novels in this tie-in series were this enjoyable and balanced. The author is a professional of great talent, and it shows. As always, her work also conveys her affection for the characters and the fictional universe in which they live. A must-read!

not bad - Rated 3/5
All in all, this wasn't a horrible book. I did think that the author missed some very obvious opportunities to crank up the angst in the book. Daniel and Sam are in a very trying time...but we get to see little to nothing from their point of view.
I found the plot as a whole not massively complicated and i knew the ending by the middle of the book.
HOwever, that being said, this is TONS better than the first series of Gate books published by someone else. At least these aurhors actually know the fandom and show and aren't just playing catch-up and cranking out template books

A Rousing Good Adventure - Rated 5/5
Now this book is more like it! Finally! A book focused on all of the members of SG-1 in equal parts (although if push came to shove, I'd have to say that Jack's point of view takes precedence ... but not in a bad way). Best of all, *none* of the members of the team are treated badly by this author. They are written with obvious love and care. Even Teal'c, so often shoved to one side by writers (even on the show itself), is given equal weight and importance in this story, I felt. The writing itself is professional in quality. It flows smoothly and is easy to follow and read. The dialogue is snappy and brilliant. The emotional parts feel real and draw you in. The book makes you want to finish reading it rather than feeling like it is a chore to finish.

Best of all, the story is a rousing good action/adventure with a dose of mythology and even horror thrown in. And, oh yeah. SG-1 goes through the Stargate together and they actually have an adventure reminiscent of those good old days when they did the same sort of thing on the series itself.

LOVED this book - Rated 5/5
It's hard to write a book with four characters and keep the action evenly spaced on each one, but this book succeeds wonderfully. Each character has something to contribute and nobody gets tucked into the background.

Daniel and Jack are the men we see on the screen, their friendship is pretty solid already in this book, and Sam and teal'c fit right in.

The story is interesting and believable and runs smoothly from beginning to end. This is a good solid book and one which I will re-read with pleasure.

I hope there's another one by this author in the future.
