Find it difficult to learn from a text book? Then use the multiple choice interactive practice quiz software - quetsions are taken from a database of over 2,400 questions. You can play the tests over and over again. Each time you will get a random selection of 24 questions. At the end of each practice test you can see your score and check your answers. There is a structured study program to help you get started. QuickStudy (tm) summaries on each chapter to help you focus.
Also available is useful information on booking the test, taking the test and what to do after you have taken the test. Useful internet links to all sorts of websites and information that can help you get settled in the UK. This study material is valid for 2008 tests.
Lots of practice tests, unfortunately with poor quality control - Rated
I bought this CD-ROM to help me prepare for the "Life in the UK" test. I had already read through the relevant chapters in the official book but wanted a little extra help to build up confidence.
The questions on the practice tests are more detailed than on the real one. Getting a good pass rate on all of them should prepare you well for taking the test.
Unfortunately, the material on the CD-ROM, practice tests and the study guide, suffers from poor quality control. There are lots of passages with sentence fragments or bad grammar. Even worse, some of the practice tests had incorrect answers. In some cases the supposedly correct answer was the opposite of what is stated in the official book, e.g. according to one practice test most young people in the UK are interested in party politics. I don't think so.
Although it did help me somewhat in my preparation I cannot really recommend this CD-ROM because of the errors in the practice tests.
