Love this book - Rated
Love the book - it makes me want to go to every single one of the places featured. Yes, the trips are mostly quite pricey, but you get what you pay for and they look spectacular and, for the most part, have something pretty unusual about them. I'd recommend it as a gift for dads - mine was very pleased and hopefully is going to take a break himself soon! Either that or all you cash-rich (lucky) hardworking people out there.
Disappointing - Rated
There is no doubt about it; this book looks great. The photography is beautiful and certainly there are some amazing locations. I have, however, two main grumbles - and these are to do with the cost of these short breaks, as well as the claim that they are easily accessible from the UK.
The book covers locations from Cuba to South Africa - for a short break? And easy from the UK? It all rather depends on where you are in the UK! Costs are steep - from £500 to more than £1500 per person. I'm hugely disappointed with this book, and it all feels like a highly packaged brochure for the travel company behind it.
Great idea - Rated
I was a bit suspicious of this book when I was given it as I thought it was going to be one of the many pre-Christmas travel glossies. Actually it's totally different from the 'what to do before you die' type things - the 'big short break' idea is such a good one, the long weekend ideas are really unusual and inspiring, great photos, and the membership card scheme is well worth joining.
perfect present! - Rated
In an increasingly 'time poor' world, no-one seems to want to be out of the office for more than a day or two, and that's where this book comes into it's own, describing in detail some of the msot far flung and interesting places you can get to in a long weekend. If you can get beyond the gorgeous photography, the writing is very amusing as well.
