Not such an easy read! - Rated
The content is good, but I think he forgot to edit it! I found the many typos and grammatical errors very distracting. Apart from that, I did gain some new insights, though I found the basic induction rather confusing.
There are better books about the subject - Rated
Autosuggestion / power of thoughts / self-hypnosis is the subject of this book. And there are better books available of the subject. Just take a look at my other reviews. After reading other books about the subject I am not sure if the author really understood the concept of autosuggestion. There's too much weight on the word 'hypnosis' in this book. Remember Emile Coue who found out that a state of hypnosis was not even necessary in his psychiatric healing methods.
Shame about the grammar, and the suspiciously rave reviews. - Rated
Adam Eason is a lovely fellow, a professional hypnotist who knows his stuff, but he is no writer.
Shame someone didn't edit the book and pick up the over-use of repeated adjectives ('Wonderful' springs to mind), or change the many incorrectly used commas to full-stops. Commas don't separate sentences.
Also, I get a sneaking suspicion that several of the best reviews come from fellow hypnotists; no harm in lauding a colleague's work, but they should declare an interest.
All the above hasn't stopped me enjoying Adam's book, or in fact buying one of his hypnosis CDs, but with just a little extra help in the way of editing, it could have been much improved.
Allen.
A good read and a good reference book too! - Rated
The Secrets of Self-Hypnosis by Adam Eason is filled to the brim with lots of excellent facts about the nature of self-hypnosis and of how to utilise this remarkable natural attribute in day-to-day life. Adam shares principles for developing confidence, becoming slimmer, being a non-smoker, pain relief and more. If you don't currently know anything or much about self-hypnosis this book will teach you a lot - and it will do so in a readily accessible way. (And if you're buying this book as a fully-trained and qualified professional hypnotherapist I believe that you'll find that you still learn many wonderful things as well.) A good read and a good reference book too!
Entertaining Self-Help - Rated
I got this book simply because my daughter bought it, raved about it and I wanted to see what all the fuss was about. Having only intended on "dipping my toe in" and casually reading a few pages I got drawn in and loved it. My husband and I have since spent lots of time in trances! This book is going to show you how to go into a trance, that is, how to get into a state of hypnosis. Then it gives a load of various ways to do things while in trance and use it for all the stuff that most people will buy the book for; stopping smoking, losing weight, all that kind of thing. I just found it interesting and a lot of fun even though I had no major issue to deal with. This is a great book; easy to read, easy to follow and not loaded with technical or academic terminology. I recommend it.
