A perfect book for beginners - Rated 5/5
This book teaches 8 powerful movements which will give you energy and reduce stress. The excercises takes only 6-7 minutes to complete, but do not be fooled by their simplicity. Firstly, the movements is perfect for stretching and nurturing the back. Secondly, you will feel the chi-energy moving in your body for hours after the workout.

I have been teaching these movements to my collegues at work, and all of them eventually feel the chi-energy, even though I did not tell them about it. I have read many "advanced" books about qi gong/tai chi/nei gung, but this book is so simple and so clearly illustrated that you will actually DO the exercises, not just read about them. Also, the movements are not harmful in any way, you can practise them safely.I have been teaching various martial arts for more than 20 years. When my friends or co-workers ask me about techniques for health, I show them Pal Dam Gum from Mr. Wilson's book. His explanations are very good for beginners. I highly recommend this book.


Very Disappointing - Rated 2/5
I bought this book based on all the good reviews, because it had so few exercises I also assumed they would be well covered.

Chi Gung (Chi Kung, Qi Qong) has three stages for each exercise, Form, Energy and Mind. This book covers only the first part, the form of each exercise, the control of energy, the visualisation and the mental process is completely absent.

In addition several of the exercises were called by non-standard names, for example "Nourishing the kidneys" was called "Touching the toes and Arching the back" which while sounding like a better name obscures the point of the exercise, which is in fact to bring chi to the kidneys.


Best I`ve Seen on Qi Gong - Rated 5/5
I just thought this book deserved another good review. Having re-read the book after a few months I still think its as good as I did when I first read it. Smply written but effective, good photos too. Exercise wise, I do them every day and still WANT to do them.

Really good exposition of the subject. Clear pictures and description of the main elements and moves, and useful additonal background chapters.


The best book on QiGong I have ever read - Rated 5/5
The written explanations (together with the photographs) to the eight movement qigong are excellent. What however has really impressed me is the rest of the book (8 chapters), with clear scientific explanations of Qi, breathing, relaxing, training the mind, his personal health story, meditations. Dr. Wilson's writting style is superb.
