Noble warriors part deux - Rated 4/5
Jango, follow up to Seeker, is one of those weird books that manages to entertain, yet do your head in at the same time. Why? Well, for a start I don't see the point in this book being called Jango. You'll know why if you ever read it. I feel a title closer to the main plot would suit this much better. While Im moaning, I'll also say it is a little overwritten - would have been a much more thrilling adventure if it was edited down by about 50-100 pages! Nicholson is a good writer, so I don't see how he hasn't noticed this. And what are his editors getting paid for?

Moaning aside, if you liked Seeker then I'm sure you'll get to the end of this. Seeker, the Wildman, Morning Star, and Echo Kittle are all pretty cool characters and it's good to read about them. The storyline is pretty good, but sometimes concentrates on boring scenes for far too long. I think my favourite character is still Soren Similin; he never fails to entertain me.

Overall: a good book but the prose and plot aren't as tight as they should be from this guy. I love the new covers by the way, much better than the old jackets.

FYI: This is Book 2 of THE NOBLE WARRIORS series, and therefore a sequel to SEEKER. If you don't want the end of SEEKER spoiled for you, STOP! If that's not a concern, I invite you back to Anacrea.

Seeker, Morning Star, and Wildman are with the Nomana, training to be Noble Warriors themselves. It's been nine months and they are about to face the most difficult test in their training so far. On their first day of the new lessons, Wildman does the unthinkable, and must be banished from the Nom. Seeker worries that he too will be sent away, due to the deal he made to get Wildman into training in the first place. Morning Star is despondent at the loss of her friend.

Meanwhile, a new threat is approaching Anacrea, and destroying everything and everyone that gets in its way. When the new threat joins forces with the old, what will become of Anacrea? And where does that leave the Nomana?

For the first time the Nom is divided. How far should they and will they go to protect the people of Anacrea and their home? And now that Seeker seems to have acquired limitless power, what should be done about him? How much power is too much?

This may seem like a pretty vague description of the story, but I don't want to give too much away. The book starts out fast and full, and keeps right on going. It's a fast read, but only because so much keeps happening that you don't want to put it down! So much changes for the three friends, but that's part of growing up. Not only does this book progress well through time and characters, it sucks you further into its universe. Almost to the point where when you come up for air you're surprised to find yourself surrounded by the world you usually live in. If the books keep going like this... Let's just say I can't wait to read the next one!

An intriguing sequel - Rated 4/5
The second book in a trilogy is usually the most anticipated and can therefore leave the reader feeling a little disappointed if it doesn't quite meet the expectation of the first.

The expectation with Jango is that the seamlessness of the characters' tales will continue and it is here that the reader needs an open mind for Nicholson has torn the story open and sent the characters on a different path. Their lives are thrown into disarray as new and more powerful threats to their existence arrive. The evil empire of Radiance under a new leader still seek to destroy the Noma and with the apparent allegiance of a mighty warlord the Nomana are in more danger than ever before.

Seeker, Morning Star and the Wildman must contend with questions over their existence and purpose in life when doubts creep in about their belief in everything they lived for.

New and fleeting characters appear in the book, Echo Kittle a girl from a forest who needs help defending her people and the curious Jango himself. It is Jango who is the most intriguing for his appearance suggests a twist in the story for which we will have to wait until the third book comes out to discover.

My only disappointment with this is Morning Star and the Wildman not featuring enough. A small point but worth noting.

Overall, an excellent book and Nicholson proves what a heavyweight he is in childrens' fantasy fiction.
