Neat Knots for novices - Rated
All the knots are illustrated with photograps which are of a good quality. The layout is clear and the copy precise. My only critisism is it would be more user friendly if it were spiral bound. All the common knots and their relatives are included and their uses are highlighted by icons. For a novice as myself it was ideal.
The Sailors Art Explained - Rated
This short handy sized book starts by giving an informative explanations on how rope is made, the strenghts and weaknesses of each type and their usage. The reader is then led through all manner of rope work, from the simple knots usefull in everyday life, through splicing and joining of ropes, to creation of decorative rope work. Each knot is accompanied by a simple chart on how and where to use the knot, but the main bonus is the simple colour pictures that will take you from novice to expert whilst explaining technique. Highly Recommended
Lot's of esoteric Knots, Not very useful as a reference - Rated
I found the diagrams difficult to follow although the color photographs were well done. This was akward to use as a reference manual. I would prefer a spiral bound book which faclitates tying of the knot while the book is open.It is difficult to follow the knot and keep this book open to the appropriate page.I ended up returning this book for a credit.
