Disappointing - Rated
Like many others I have been an avid reader of Patricia Cornwell for several years and always eagerly await the release of a new novel, but I am again let down by another rushed and somewhat muddled story that was obviously released to meet a deadline. There are many new authors out there who are fast catching up with the 'Cornwell standard' Whilst I like the introduction of new characters, I do also like the science of the old Scarpetta novels and have found that the new novels are somewhat lacking in this area.Perhaps it is time for a break and rethink of just who you are trying to please Ms Cornwell.
The Front - Rated
Another excellent book from Patricia Cornwell. I had not read the first book and was not sure if l would be able to get into this one. As l read l could feel myself warming to the new characters, Will Grano, Nana, Monique Lamont and Stump. Patricia Cornwell is very descriptive of all her characters and this was no exception. Once l started reading l could not put the book down. I can not wait for the next book, l presume there are more to come.
Great work Patricia, more please!
Disappointing - Rated
Although very well written with some excellent exchanges between Win and Stump, this is a hugely disappointing book. Why?......it is no more than a short story put together under the guise of "her new novel". At 180 pages her publishers should be ashamed to put it out as such. Michael Connolly did as much last year with a short story put out as a novel; with these the story moves along brisky but the interaction and scene setting you want to draw you in is sadly missing.

A very disappointing read.
I felt that I had missed a great chunk of the story when I reached the end.
Can't believe this was written by the same author of the Scarpetta series.
A great shame.
