As a Cristian and a die hard comic book fan, i have been feeling a bit of a struggle when entering the store and the majority of my favorites are now so dark and violent with Mature ratings. It seems to have started with Frank Miller's Dark Night and ever since comics have become more adult oriented (ie violent and chock full of cursing!). This manga graphic novel is a breath of fresh air. IT reads easily but doesn't skimp on the main ideas of the Gospels. It even gets events more accurately than how our culture portrays them... such as the wise men not seeing Jesus in the manger but months or years later! Every page has it's Bible reference at the bottom so you can check out the stories for yourself. The art flows well and was one of the few comic or picture adaptations of the Bible to have a cinematic feel. Only one panel stood out as beeing out of context historically and that was when the deciples are arguing over who is the greatest among them... and one has a MICROPHONE! uh... don't think those were invented 3,000 years ago. Overall this is an EXCELLENT BOOK! It's entertaining and will serve as a great testimonial to comic fans of all ages.
