disappointing read - Rated
TO be honest I read this book as apparent Collette caddle is recommended for me because of other readers I have read - but I just found this book went on for ever and ever about nothing - I was hoping the story would be more about the lads relationship with his dad once he met him but it was more about his gambling in the past etc - I wouldnt recommend this book but I will be reading another collette caddle book as I dont give up easily and the last revierer did say that this was disappointing compared to her other books - will let you know!
Not anywhere as good as the others... - Rated
I have read all of Collette's books and compared to the other ones she has written, I was extremely disappointed with this. I found it very dull and predictable and was glad to get to the end!
For those wanting a book you can't put down, I'd recommend "A Hopeless Romantic" by Harriett Evans. I read it in two days - only stopping for tea and toilet breaks!!
Wonderful about Life, Love and Kids! - Rated
There is nothing glamourous about Colette Caddle's books. No peek into a world we are not all well acquainted with. Colette Caddle writes about so called ordinary people, people like you and me. And she does it exceptionally well. Just getting better and better with every book.
In "It's All About Him" we meet Dee, single mom, supporting herself and four years old Sam with her catering business and helping part time at her friend Lisa's crèche.
Dee struggles to make ends meet and also constantly worries about Sam's chronic asthma and eczema. Her farmer boyfriend Conor, is a strong and stable part of her life, as are her close girlfriends Lauren, Sheila and Lisa.
Altogether life is not too bad for Dee and Sam. Her relationship with Conor adds joy and relief in her daily struggle and ever growing workload, although he has not yet popped THE QUESTION! Something which bothers Dee more than she is willing to admit, but which does not overly worry her. Conor is the quiet and stable sort. Adores Dee and is good with Sam. It will all happen in due time.
So life goes on in the little town of Banford, not far from Dublin. Until one morning the doorbell chimes at Dee's house. And after five years and not a word, there stands Neil. Sam's father and the man who broke Dee's heart, stole her money and left her alone in a foreign country. She got back to Banford alone and pregnant, had Sam and never heard another word from Neil.
What happens? I'll leave that to the reader. But even though Collette Caddle writes just as easily and entertaining as always, this book goes a little deeper than her previous ones. The characterization, in particular, is very strong and calls for much afterthought. The story introduces many and very different personalities and there are no easy or predictable solutions to the many situations which arize.
Fans of Colette Caddle will not be disappointed. In fact, a hardcover purchase would have been money well spent and I hope her next book will be available in that binding. To new readers I can only recommend. An entertaining, yet realistic and wise book from a superb writer.
An author new to me. Cannot wait to read her other books. - Rated
This lady sure knows how to keep your interest. I bought the book at random, yet I finished it the same day.
The plot is down to earth and yet exciting. Normal, everyday things take on a new light and keep the pages turning.
I thought she wrote from the heart about our children and how we love them yet sometimes are frightened by that love.
The intensity of feeling in the book is sometimes hard to bear, yet is so very true.
Colette seems to have an insight into womens hearts and minds. She makes the ordinary come alive in a way some authors cannot.
I loved her book. I hope I have not made it sound mundane. Anything that keeps me reading straight until the end is exciting and engaging,
Well done.
If you eat or have children then this is for you - Rated
Not a bit predicable and once again showing how diverse this author's talents are. Every single book has a different subject matter; no two storylines are the same.
Personally I wanted to kill the slightly neurotic heroine for most of the story, but not enough to put the book down.
If there is a man in the world like Conor can someone please get me his number?
It'll make you laugh and if you're sentimental probably cry too, if your like me it may even make you scream a little. Truly a joy to read.
