This book offers five levels of puzzles: Easy, Cool, Thinker, Brain, & IQ. There are 20 of each except you get one extra in the IQ section. As you would expect the Easy puzzles are not too difficult. As other reviewers have said, the puzzles get fairly tough. If you've completed The Times books this is the next logical step. It's nice to have a slight change of style.
There is also a solving guide at the front which I have avoided as I like to find my own ways of solving puzzles but couldn't help noticing an advanced math section which recommends using mod 10 additions to save time "instead of adding ... up on a calculator". Surely people don't use calculators to add up numbers in a puzzle? You only need to add up to 45, 90, 135, or 180 give or take a few, and not very often. I find it hard to believe that people who can do these puzzles are incapable of a adding up a few numbers!
Good book for killer fans - Rated
Seriously good puzzles for devotees. The difficult section is what it says on the tin. Seriously puzzling. Full marks
Seriously difficult puzzles. - Rated
D J Ape has a (deserved) reputation of producing the most demanding puzzles. This is an excellent book but, be warned, you'd be much better off going for an alternative title (maybe Steve Aron's book)unless you are a very experienced solver who is looking for a collection of very hard puzzles.
