Developer's Guide to Windows Sharepoint Services 3.0 - Rated This book gives a fairly good introduction to WSS v3. It seems to touch on many aspects of developing with WSS v3 in quite a readable way. However, even though Web Parts covers 3 chapters, I felt the book could have gone into more detail, and I have ended up buying a book specifically on Web Parts too. The code examples are full of typos which indicate the book was rushed to publication and not checked in great detail. Overall, good to have for quick reference but it's not the only book you'll need and you will get frustrated if you follow the code examples to the letter.

This book gives a fairly good introduction to WSS v3. It seems to touch on many aspects of developing with WSS v3 in quite a readable way. However, even though Web Parts covers 3 chapters, I felt the book could have gone into more detail, and I have ended up buying a book specifically on Web Parts too.

The code examples are full of typos which indicate the book was rushed to publication and not checked in great detail.

Overall, good to have for quick reference but it's not the only book you'll need and you will get frustrated if you follow the code examples to the letter.
