A well rounded book - Rated The book is modular in its approach, allowing you to make use of areas that interest you and leave others. It does not force an 'all or nothing' approach. This book focuses well on the mechanical aspects of robot construction, discussing many different plastics and a few metals with the merits and limitations of each. Coming from an electrical background I found the discussions on machining of parts very interesting, though some of the recommended tools are beyond the budget of the average hobby robot builder. The Electrical areas are appropriate, detailed and of good quality. The book keeps software discussion at a high level where possible, I feel this is good as in other books I have encountered; the author wasted chapters discussing at length intricacies of a microprocessor I have not used. References back to the earlier 'Robot building for Beginners' are kept to a minimum (without duplicating information) and I was able to follow this book without having purchased the beginners book.
