Morons - Rated
What a bunch of dross, how these morons even got published is a mystery to me. They had no interest in the culture of the countries they visited whatsoever, only where the local Mcdonalds was, their small minded views are staggering.
It is imature fools like these three that give Brits travelling abroad a bad name, they should have their passports confiscated and never be able to darken another countries borders again.
Rubbish - Rated
Poorly written, bereft of any genuine humour, a real trial to endure, but there was nothing else to read on a long bus journey and I was foolishly optomistic that there was light at the end of the tunnel. There wasn't.
You can just picture the author congratulating themselves on writing such an hilarious book. The only joke is on the buyer of the book; is there any way that you can re-imburse me for the time that I spent reading this book please?
Desperate - Rated
Having really enjoyed inter-railing in the early 90s, I was looking forward to reading something that brought positive memories back of the experience and even some of the places. What I didnt want was a puerile, poorly written load of tosh, which is what this can be summed up as. I suppose it did remind me of some of the allegedly educated fellow-countrymen I met (and tried to avoid) along the way.
I need to go inter-railing again now to forget the memory of reading this!
Dissapointing - Rated
I read this book hoping there would be something really interesting, as I have Inter-railed in the past and really enjoyed it. Instead I was dissapointed at the characters filthy habits and lack of respect for any environment or people. I was sickened - not amused - when one of them writes "the sea was a beautiful rich blue....I figured the odd turd would not do any harm". Did they not realise how racist they come across and unpleasant to the point of nastiness to other travellers who were not blond Dutch girls? I have travelled widely and its people like them who make journeys that bit worse. They were totally ignorant and uninterested in any of the beautiful countries they travelled through - the journey was wasted on them. In all, the 'boys' represented the very worst of British culture and its people like them who give Brits such a bad name abroad.
Funnier Than Bryson - Rated
It was the summary which is also on the front of the book which persuaded me to buy the book, and I was not disappointed. As someone who has never done independent travelling of any kind it has given me a serious urge to do so. The book itself is well written and very funny as I was laughing out loud on a number of occasions.
