A Superb Guide & Reference Book - Rated 
I recently purchased this M. Coles book on the recommendation of my cousin, who is a professional silversmith and instructor. As promised, this book delivers so much and is so well organised. I have never seen another jewellery manual put together as nicely as this one. The book is spiral bound and can be opened up and used right on the bench, without the hassell of struggling to keep it open (I wish all jewellery books were constructed like this!). It is an excellent book for beginning and intermediate jewellery makers. I recommend this book to anyone interested in jewellery making and design, as I have found it to be a brilliant resource.
Only for the serious Jeweller - Rated
I bought this book with great anticipation as the reviews for this book were excellent but unfortunatley this book wasn't for me. I make consutme jewellery using silver plate wire and sterling silver wire without having to solder etc. I can use very basic tools (mostly stuff that can be found around the home)
This book is only for the serious jeweller as you need a proper workbench, tools like doming blocks, and a burners wig, you need to purchase sheets of silver, gold, copper and you need strong gauge silver and gold wire to be able to achieve making the brooches, wedding rings and pendants etc. I honestly don't know where you would purchase such metals. the projects inside are stunning and if you are a serious jewellery maker then this is the book for you otherwise if your like me and want to make costume jewellery without the hassel of soldering then I would recommend you buy "bead on a wire" by sharilyn Miller or any of the Linda Jones books.
I have rated this book as 5 stars as the layout and explanations are indeed excellent and a serious jewellery maker would get a lot out of the the book. The book its self is hard backed and is split in two with the projects at the top and the how to at the bottom which I think is an excellent way of teaching students.

Brilliant book!! I do silver jewellery at night class and this is a great companion. Really well laid out and great practical advice and projects.I want to make them all. Well worth it.

AN EXCELLENT BOOK. IDEAL FOR SOMEONE WHO IS ALREADY MAKING SOME JEWELLERY AND WANTS TO PROGRESS TO SOLDERING ETC. CLEARLY EXPLAINS ALL THE KIT NEEDED, WITH COLOUR PHOTOGRAPHS, HOW TO SET UP YOUR OWN MINI WORKSHOP AND HOW TO MAKE EACH ITEM RANGING FROM A BASIC RING, STONE SETTING TO INTRICATE FILIGREE WORK. THE ONLY BOOK YOU WILL NEED AS AN INTERMEDIATE BEGINNER. WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND.

This book is an excellent resource whether you're a beginner or more experience. The format, where it's split in two, is a great idea, as you're reading the instructions for your project you can have the instructions for the technique there as well
