good for planning futrue trips - Rated A good and interesting book, photographs are brilliant and makes you want to go to all these places,A good book for anyone who likes to travel or read about different countrys A bit of a disappointment - Rated While the commentary is informative and gives useful but general information, unlike the previous reviewer, I felt the photographs were a huge disappointment. Most seem old, looking aged and faded and quality is not as sharp as a modern day camera would produce. As a book of this sort generally uses its pictures as visual inspiration to lead you into the commentary, I felt rather stumped at the first hurdle. Not a book I would recommend. Thomson Wintersun? Not Likely! - Rated Having just had to cancel a trip to Africa I was looking for a book that would help me plan another trip to take its place. Unfortunately I picked up The Traveller's Atlas and can't decide! The photography is incredible with some really stunning images. The book is divided into different regions (North America, Asia, Northern Europe etc) and gives ideas for dream trips to the most stunning parts of the world. Among the ones that caught my interest were a boat trip to Timbuktu, a trip on the Trans-Siberian Railway and a road journey from Rawalpindi north through the mountains to China. Each little item is about 3 or 4 pages long and gives the reader just enough information to want to look further. Any greater detail would make the book unwieldy and would turn it more into a guidebook. A great book that has some really great idea for off the beaten track journeys. I just can't decide which one to go on first!
