Sookie is Branching Out Of Bon Temps - Rated
Sookie has her first real trip away from home and even experiences an airplane, God Love Her. But a the plane crashing 100's of feet is the least of Sookies problems.
1st - one of sookie's co-workers are murdered and no1 seems to care.
2nd - Sookie get a nasty surprise from a crazed creature.
3rd - Sookie meets a suicidal Vampire.
4th - Sookie & Lover Bill have a lovers tiff, But will it end?
and 5th - Sookie has to help the Vampire of Dallas find one of the own.
as you can see alot happens in this book. You dont NEED to read the 1st in the serious but you get a better understanding of the relationship between sookie and bill, or should i say Sookie and all the vampires.
Very good mystery!!
Not as good as the first, but hang on in there because this series is amazing! - Rated
As often happens in a series like this (I feel the same thing about Harry Potter for example) as the first book really sets the story and is fatastically exciting, the second book has a lot to live up to and can sometimes fail to meet quite the same standards. In its own right this book is still really fun and lively, but I felt the whole taking-Sookie-to-Dallas thing didn't really work for me. I like her on her own territory best, with Bon Temps' characters feeling more realistic than the ones she deals with here. Having said all that, the series as a whole is probably my favourite in the vampire genre (if we ignore Anne Rice's Vampire Chronicles, because they're an entity in themselves) and you will miss out if you don't read this installment. 5 stars for the series as a whole.
still living - Rated
Sookie's back and in good form. Other reviewers have already outlined the story so my posting is to suggest a new reader really should start with Charlaine Harris's first book in this series. This one is a good read. I found the first book by chance and wanted to carry on reading about the girl's adventures. Perhaps Living Dead in Dallas doesn't quite flow as well as the first but it is enjoyable and I have the next one lined up for sure.
action packed vamp tale - Rated
good second novel, explore more about sookie's gift and how she is useful to the now living openly vampires!! also on the romantic front there is some competition for her affections from eric, who will she chose????
broadening the characters in series with the addition of vampires from dallas and more shapeshifters which add to the expansion of the series.
Dallas has been Sookiefied :) - Rated
"Cocktail waitress Sookie Stackehouse is on a streak of bad luck. First, her coworker is murdered and no one to care. Than she's face-to-face with a beastly creatures that gives her a painful and poisonous lashing. Enter the vampires, who graciously suck the poison from her veins (like they didn't enjoy it).
Point is, they saved her life. So when one of the blood-suckers asks for a favor, she complies. And soon, Sookie's in Dallas using her telepathic skills to search for a missing vampire. She's suppose to interview certain humans involved. There's just one condition. The vampires must promise to behave and let the humans go unharmed. Easier said than done. All it takes is one delicious blond and one small mistake for things to turn deadly... "
"Dead in Dallas" is book two in Charline Harris's Southern vampire novels.
Just as the first book (Dead Until Dark) , this was an absolute treat....
Lafayette, Sookie's coworker, has been murdered and left in a truck to be found. Sookie is of course highly upset and wants to find the killer. But doesn't really get the chance to begin her investigation, as she is being sent to Dallas with Bill to find a missing vampire... She is going to find Lafayette's killer when (if) they get back from Dallas.
The book is amazingly entertaining. You will of course meet almost all of the characters from the first book and be introduced to new ones. But even if you haven't read the first book (which I would VERY much recommend),you will very easily and smoothly be led into the story and will be introduced to all the characters gradually... Sookie's trip to Dallas is very exciting, disturbing and of course life-threatening. Not only she is trying to do her job and stay alive at the same time, she is also struggling with her relationship with Bill. And Eric ..... yeah, well , Eric .... You just have to read and find out for yourself how the story evolves, how these amazing characters learn to live with each other, light and darkness, trying their hardest to make it work.
I am reading This series for the second time now, and surprise , surprise .... it just doesn't get boring at any point. I absolutely love these books and highly recommend them. Paranormal romance/mystery lovers, get this book. You are going to fall in love ^_^
