Customer Reviews

Shown to be a Fake - Rated 1/5
This book has been comprehensively debunked by researchers. It is pure fantasy, feeding the public's appetite for misery lit and cruel convent stories. The nuns kept very detailed records and the laundries not admit pregnant women or 13 year old girls. It appears Kathy never was in a Magdalene laundry, there was no daughter who died aged 10 and the book was a fantasy inspired by a film about Magdalene laundries. The author's birth certificate and school records show that book lies about her age, background, education and alleged adoption.

What prats still thinks this is a true story? - Rated 1/5
I see that in 2008 there are still people writing about this book as if it were a true account of real abuse when it has been clearly proven by the Dublin journalist Hermann Kelly to be pure fiction. Read his book, please!!

The first book of its kind I have read... it won't be the last! - Rated 5/5
I have never written a review on Amazon before but I felt I had to after reading this book. I was captivated from the first page and finished it within three days. I knew little of the Irish institutions many children grew up in during the 20th century and was shocked to learn how the church treated these disadvantaged individuals. Kathy's story was totally gripping and I would recommend it to anyone. Her fight for justice was truly inspiring. A fantastic read!

TO BELIEVE OR NOT TO BELIEVE...? - Rated 4/5
WHETHER YOU BELIEVE THIS IS KATHY`S TRUE STORY OR NOT, IT IS STILL VERY MUCH WORTH READING. SOME OF THESE THINGS MAY NOT HAVE HAPPENED TO KATHY - I DON`T KNOW - BUT THE MAGDALENE LAUNDRIES WERE REAL, AND THESE TERRIBLE THINGS REALLY DID HAPPEN TO A LOT OF GIRLS.

Know the truth - Rated 1/5
Read 'Kathys real story' before swallowing the lies in this book. It is heartbreaking that people can write books like this and then call them 'true storys'. I don't know the truth, but there seems a lot of people who can testify this is a load of codwhalash
