This slim volume is packed with gorgeous pictures and ideas for the style and presentation of your wedding reception. Flowers, favours, cakes, table settings and even chair backs are all included and presented beautifully with many fabulous photos. There is also a finishing touches section that makes some extra suggestions for things like gifts for the attendants. The reference section, while small, has some excellent suggestions for taking things further.

If you have already decided your colours or general look (eg modern, informal etc) then this book will be of less use to you. It has some stunning ideas on developing for example a classic look from scratch, but if like me you’ve already got the basics selected and you’re looking for inspiration for those extra touches, then this book is of limited use. Which is not to say you might not pick up an idea or two to lift your reception to a different level.

I have found this book to be invaluable when trying to organise a wedding on a budget. It has no pretension and many wonderful ideas. I would highly recommend this book to anyone, even if not getting married just for its sheer beauty.

The book is divided into special categories, providing information and concepts for different wedding styles; from the contemporary to traditional. Each page suggests simple but innovative ideas that will delight every guest and provide the bride and groom with magical memories. A useful directory in the final pages of the book lists addresses and contact details of cake makers, special confetti and wedding favour stockists, caterers, dress makers and related websites.

Not only will this book prove invaluable for wedding day details, it will also become a timeless resource for the planning of any special occasion which requires a sophisticated or personal touch.
