Interesting - if sometimes difficult to understand plot. I like the twists in the story, overall I would say it's good, but not brilliant. I think sometimes the Doctor and Rose are a bit on the 'undoctorish' and unroseish' side, but the basic storyline is good.
Rubbish.... - Rated
Yet again, this story is a real let down. It never really gets going, it doesnt keep you engaged and thats all i have to say about it. Jaq Rayner isnt that good a writer at all. Dont like her stlye. But still, the Last Dodo is still to come and will that finally make me think otherwise of Jac? I really hope so....
Good reading, average book - Rated
Did no-one notice the startling similarities between this and the earlier Big Finish 7th Dr audio play 'The Fires Of Vulcan'? Really? No-one? Tennant obviously reads his Doctor well but he tends to fudge or slur some of the words. The story is, as I've intimated, somewhat second-hand and the Rose characterisation is very poor.
By the way, Jacqueline Rayner did NOT write the Dalek episodes for series 3, that was Helen Raynor. Jacqueline Rayner is a better writer than that. Just rushed sometimes.
Helen Raynor was script editor for the first 2 series and did a better job at that than writing...

Romantic! - Rated
I don't think i can get into this book without giving too much away but let me just say it is very romantic. It reads like fan fiction not that that is a bad thing. It follows a structure common in series 2 of doctor who i.e either the doctor or rose goes missing and the other gets mad. i think one of the best lines in the book has to be 'rose is prettier than you'. its just so simple but shows so much. A close second would be 'i was inspired'. Its just beautiful but i'm sure for some it would be sickly. The origin of the stone rose is a beautiful revelation.
This book does have bad moments namely the plot. It starts as an excuse to get us to Rome we get there, the mystery unfolds very well(although i never saw rose as someone with modelling aspirations) then there comes the dreadful conclusion. When the creature turns up it just devoves into silliness.
This has some great doctor/rose moments and that rescues the book. It is an ode to how much he loves her. There are no more double meanings to hide the feelings. It is all out there in the open and i love it!
