This book is, as the title says, about Numbers. Every page has a bright and colourful picture with the numeral and the letterform of the word. The picture has the amount of that number, i.e. form three: it has the number 3. It has a picture of three fishfingers and has the words `Three Fishfishers' at the bottom. Children can learn from 1 - 10 with this book. Meet Charlie and Lola in this great book! It is part of a superb series of six brilliant board books. The titles include Opposites, Colours, Numbers, Shapes, Things and Animals. All subjects are suitable for Pre School kids. I would positively rate this book 8/ 10 even though it is not very suitable for me (but it is lots of fun)!
Not as good as the animal book - Rated
I disagree with the previous reviewer in saying this is unimaginative. For a child's board book about numbers this is great. The illustrations are totally in keeping with Lauren Child's original ideas, although this is clearly not written by her. The funky drawings and the imaginative use of materials for the illustration is excellent as ever. A numbers book for those children small enough to still be using board books instead of regular books needs to be simple, clear and do exactly what it says on the tin. If the pictures or concepts get any more sophisticated, chaos ensues, as the child needs to focus on one clear idea at a time and not get confused about what the purpose of the book is for. So often, board books like these are too busy, and although very nice, totally defeat the object.
Here there are clear numbers of identifiable objects, which are also still clearly Charlie and Lola type things. Consequently I think it is very well done indeed.

A very unimaginative book cashing in on the popularity of Charlie and Lola. It covers the numbers 1 - 10 using illustrations from the series - one brother Charlie, two toothbrushes etc ... it's as undemanding as that! I'd say this is a missed opportunity for the people (Lauren Child ?) behind Charlie and Lola for a really good book on numbers aimed at a child of around Lola's age (supposedly 4 - 5). Instead they produce this below average board book with so little thought behind it.
