Oh Please make it stop! - Rated
This book was passed to on to me by someone who said it was the best book they've ever read - all I can say is that they obviously haven't read that many books.
Yet another sad, miserable little story that has made the author a few bob - that should considerably ease the pain. I'm sorry but this national obsession with mislit has to stop. Of course some people have had the most awful start to life and they have my full sympathy. However, there now seems to be some sort of competition to see who has had the 'worst' start in life, been the most abused, suffered the most humiliation, poverty and prejudice.
This book does deserve 5 stars for its title - it really must be the most dire mislit title yet.
Give me 0 out of 5 stars if you wish - I'll be so upset I'll have to write a book about it. Title: Ma, they only gave me 0 stars, what'll I do with the rest of my life?

You won't forget this book - Rated
This heartbreaking book makes you realise how much society has changed in the last 50 years. Martha's story is horrifying and one you won't forget.
It is written in colloquial language, writing as she would have spoken, which was unusual but easy to read.
My only disappointment...that you have no idea what happens to Martha after the age of 12!

I absolutely recommend this book to anyone considering buying it. Martha Long's childhood is a terribly sad tale, and the way its written reflects the way a child thinks, feels and interprets such adult situations perfectly. Fantastic book.
Excellent read - would recommend - Rated
What a sad young life Martha had - there are not too many rays of light in this book and once you begin the book it is hard to put down. Delighted to hear there is a sequel due out towards the end of the year.
