A modern day classic - Rated An excellent read bringing an inevitable tear to the eye. The pain, dirt and outright inevitability of this tragedy makes you realise how cosseted many of us are. The tight prose and dialogue pulls you in. I've already started using some of the quotes - Cowboy Up Cupcake, everyone has their freakin' problems. It's a polemic aginst the oil industry's disregard for the environment and its workforce. It's a real life Annie Proulx story. If you are familiar with Alexandra Fuller's memoirs of Africa you will know how she can conjure up the smell and feel of a place and bring the cast of characters to life. The Legend Of Colton H Bryant is even better than her first two books.The prose is as lean and tough as the Bryant family and the landscape they inhabit. Read this angry, sad, powerful, wonderful book and feel a sense of loss for a man you never knew.
