I felt as if I was reading a magazine article to be honest, I didn't like the story at all. I usually love to see how someone has gone thru the sh*t and ended up smelling of roses, but she didn't really, I just wish her the best in her quest for happiness and hope that therapy will one day teach her that changing her name will never make her happy, it has to come from within.
The ending of this book was dire..as if she were witholding that one piece of information to keep all readers hooked - when for me I had pretty much guessed that she was sexually abused she just confirmed my suspicions. Not very well written and strangely scandalous. I think she should have started when she realised that she was sexually abused because I would have been interested to learn how she dealt with having her childhood stolen from her.
I wish her a lot more luck in the future.

This is a story about a girl whose life was turned upside down all because of the colour of her skin.
I read this book immediately after I read "UGLY" by Constance Briscoe and my did it bring tears to my eyes.
a girl of a different colour - Rated
Rosie didn't realise she was a differnt colour to her siblings at first. In fact after a day at a friends house the friends mother found then both in the bathroom with Rosie trying to scrub the dark colour off. Of course it didn't work. Ill-treated and separated from her siblings in the kids home Rosie starts to think that everything that happens is deserved and her fault, so begins the start of the circle of self harm and depression but she manages to come out at the other end as an adult without self-pity. A great book and an unputdownable read.

I didn't know what to expect when I brought this book. I'd heard nothing about it, but the cover caught my eye in the bookstore. I'm so pleased that it did, because this book was wonderfully written and well worth the read. Well done to Rosie for being very open and sharing her life story with the world. More books like these are needed. Thank you!
