First european novelist - Rated Plutarch and his "Lives of noble graecians..." is not about history and facts, neither it is fiction - this is a tale of the fallacy of humans, unveiled and supported by numerous examples. Some of the heroes Plutarch described were bright and brilliant - like Titus Flaminus or Licurg, others - triumphant and victorious - like Caesar or Sulla. But all - all of them - were mere humans. And this is what Plutarch undertakes to describe and succedes in doing so - beautifully. He finds parallelisms and likeness between persons distanced in time and space but brought together by the way their time changed them and the way they could change time. Read this book - if you like history, read this book - if you like phylosophy, read this book - if you want to discover for yourself all the precious gems ancient history holds in the cold hands of its marmar gods and mummies. Read the book - you will love it and it will keep you coming for more.
