Makes story writing as easy as Pie! - Rated Having seen the Adventures in Literacy series by Pie Corbett, I was keen to find an equally exciting way to jazz up story writing with my Year 2 class. This is it! The book is a good read; short enough for any busy teacher or parent to read in a few hours to get some instant ideas, but long enough to go back to and decide on some strategies or tips to teach a particular objective. The ideas are simple, effective and abundant. After only a few weeks, my reluctant writers are writing simple but more sustained stories with ease. Although I have only had the book about a month, I keep dipping into it to keep my mind refreshed. The book contains a wealth of instant photocopiable resources eg story planners, character and setting lists, short stories (differentiated too!) and a wealth of ideas for developing oral story telling. This book is not just about developing pupils writing but also their teacher's writing! An absolute must in any classroom.
