Practical and funny too! - Rated I loved this little book. Tony and his partner Jane built their house out of logs and earth with a turf roof on a community in Wales, this is the story of building the house. Tony's motto is "keep it funky", and it shows- this house looks nothing like our suburban boxes, and nothing like conventional "owner-built" houses in this country, but it works! Low-impact, low-cost, livable, and using simple techniques. This book does not give a lot of in depth detailed step-by-step guidance, as every house project will be different, but has some great ideas and useful information. As well as the basic building techniques used, the book also looks at the non-standard water, power and waste management systems in the house. As well as being practical, this book is laugh-out-loud funny- highly recommended for wannabee outlaws and dreamers!
