Good Medieval Mystery - Rated I knew very little or more pointedly nothing about the author before I read this book but I am a bit of a sucker for the medieval mystery as anybody who has read one of my reviews will know. The storyline of a monk who takes on the role of the modern day detective is not a new concept by any means, having been used by more than one author in the past. The Ellis Peter's books being a case in point. However, while the Ellis Peter's novels never really did it for me, I found this particular book enjoyable and interesting. There are many such medieval novels doing the rounds but a new author, certainly to me, is always welcome. It is not the best book I have ever read, but then I did not expect it to be. It held my attention from start to finish and you can ask for little more from a book, unless it is a really exceptional one.
