Customer Reviews

Beware: NOT a book for people interested in Martial Arts - Rated 1/5
As another in the pantheon of books about a very bad person turned good by conversion after a previously more exciting life, this is sort of ok. All of these type of books can suffer by finding the right tone when describing the naughty period, including this one. I purchased this book by mistake, and though I read it all I was very disappointed by the narrowness so typical of a late convert to Christianity: for example the author asserts that ALL martial arts should be avoided by Christians, even after noting that in the west it is primarily a sport/exercise thing and not necessarily a religious thing. Just because he couldn't control himself from his violence doesn't mean that others can't, and since avoiding fighting is such a high goal of most schools, he ought only to claim authority when speaking about his own specific school.

Brilliant read- truly inspirational - Rated 5/5
This book truly is a book you won't be able to put down. The story is essentially of the progression in character and as well as outlook on life, achieved by the emotional stuggle to recognise fault, find an alternative and to move on from it all.
I attended a talk by the author, Tony Anthony, myself before reading his book and his life story just took my breath away.
For christians and non-christians alike, I found this book not to be one of preaching, but instead of how to find the best in oneself and how to truly achieve a sense of inner peace for the sake of self contentment.

FAIRYTALE - Made me cringe. - Rated 1/5
This book is the most appalling thing i have ever read. Totally made up nonsense published in the hope of attracting people to the church. If you have half a clue about Martial Arts you will see thi book for the sham it is. Avoid at all costs, unless you wana be preached at and told Tonys religion is a lot better than yours.

Amazing - Rated 5/5
This book is amazing, exciting, emotional, and spiritual. An excellent story of how God can change anyone.

I reccommend this book to both christians or non-christians, its a remarkable testimony and a MUST read.

Taming the Tiger - Rated 5/5
I bought this for my teenage son (who actually doesn't read if he can avoid it) for Christmas as I knew the Kung Fu stuff would appeal to him and I knew it would be edifying. He didn't show much interest until I read him excerpts. Then started a process of the book being passed to and fro between us as we were both so engrossed by it. You get quite an insight into Kung Fu and there are many vivid descriptions of violence and yet the book doesn't glorify violence at all - quite the opposite. This is a biography unlike any other as the very strange circumstances of Tony Anthony's childhood pave the way for a truly unique story.
